Diplomatic party justified the execution of the expenditure below the estimated by the lesser destruction of the job

The PS defended this Wednesday that the Portuguese economy showed signs of resilience and quick reaction capacity, especially in the last quarter of 2020 and justified the execution of the expenditure below the estimate due to the lesser destruction of employment.

This analysis on the evolution of the Portuguese economy over the past year was transmitted by the vice president of the socialist bench João Paulo Correia, in the Assembly of the Republic, after citing data that indicate that the drop in the Gross Domestic Product (GDP) will have been less serious than projected by all national and international entities.

João Paulo Correia began by pointing out that, due to the health crisis caused by the covid-19 pandemic, GDP fell "15 billion euros in 2020 - a fall without parachutes and with a brutal impact on the economic and social tissues".
