Portuguese speaking countries exported less 3,5% in the first 8 months
Exports of goods from Portuguese-speaking countries to Macau fell 0.8% in the first eight months of the year, compared to the same period last year, according to official data released today.
The value of exports from Portuguese-speaking countries to Macau was 455 million patacas (48.7 million euros) in the period under review, according to the Statistics and Census Service (DSEC) of Macau. The amount of goods imported from the territory by the Portuguese-speaking bloc, in the same period, fell 62.6% to 4 million patacas (430,000 euros).
Macau's exports of goods between January and August reached 8.89 billion patacas (950 million euros), up 28.2% year-on-year, while the value of imported goods was 101.4 billion patacas (11.44 billion euros), up 124.2% year-on-year, the DSEC said.
Macau's trade deficit in the first eight months of the year was 92.45 billion patacas (9.9 billion euros), up 54.17 billion patacas (5.8 billion euros) compared to the same period last year.
