Portugal moves from a state of contingency to calamity in view of the “serious evolution of the pandemic”

The Government has decided to raise the country's alert level. The entire national territory is in a state of calamity, said the Prime Minister.
The Government decided to increase the country's alert level, putting the entire national territory in a state of calamity. The change was announced, last Wednesday, by the Prime Minister, after leaving the Council of Ministers.
"Across Europe, we have been seeing a progressive and consistent worsening of the situation in the Covid-19 pandemic since mid-August. Unfortunately, Portugal is no exception and we can classify the evolution of the pandemic in our country as a serious one", said António Costa.
