Portugal leads among suppliers to Cape Verde, with 47.7% of the total in 2021
According to INE data in the fourth quarter of 2021, Cape Verde's exports totaled 1,559 million escudos, corresponding to a decrease of 11.9% compared to the same period of the previous year, which was 210 million escudos.
The most exported products by Cape Verde were prepared and canned fish, representing 76.8%, clothing ranked second with 7.3% of the total, and footwear ranked third with a weight of 4.4%.
The European continent also continues to be Cape Verde's main supplier, with 72.8% of the total amount of imports, followed by Asia/Oceania with 16.7%, America 5.9%, the rest of the world 2.8%, and Africa 1.8%.
In terms of countries, Portugal leads among suppliers to Cape Verde, with 47.7% of the total, (0.6 p.p. less compared to the same period last year), followed by China, Spain, and the Netherlands with 7.3%, 6.1%, and 5.7%, respectively, of total imports.
The data also show that the top 10 imported products, reached 53.5% of the total amount of imports from Cape Verde, being the most imported products the fuels with a weight of 14.6%, motor vehicles with a weight of 7.8%, reactors and boiler with a weight of 5.6%, iron and articles thereof with a weight of 5.5%, and wheat and mixed wheat with rye with a weight of 4.3%.
Consumer goods (21.3%), intermediate goods (14.4%) and fuels (125.9%) evolved positively compared to the same period of 2020 and capital goods (41.7%), evolved negatively compared to the same period of the previous year.
