INE published the statistics on international trade and also on the industry sector for February, allowing to assess the impact of confinement on the economy.
- Portuguese exports and imports in February
INE releases international trade statistics for February, the month in which the country was subject to widespread confinement. In January, Portuguese exports fell 9.8% compared to the same month last year, while imports decreased 17.2%.
- Economic indicators from several European countries
Germany, Spain and France release data on industrial production in February. Germany also reveals the balance of trade and Italy presents retail sales. Outside the EU, Switzerland reports the unemployment rate in March. Eurostat publishes the EU balance of payments for the last quarter of 2020.
- INE takes the pulse to the industry
INE publishes the Index of Turnover, Employment, Wages and Hours Worked in Industry in February. The data may help to understand the impact of the confinement due to the pandemic in the sector in Portugal.
